Geothermal Heating and Cooling (Ground Source Heat Pump)

Ground source heat pumps saves up to 60% on heating, cooling and hot water costs. The systems use ground loops installed to a depth of 110m – each loop delivers around 11kW thus if you have a larger home then more than one loop may be required. Refrigerant is plumbed through the ground loops and delivers chilled or heated air to the Heat pump.

For the Base Case home a 9-12kW system would be required and would cost between $8-10,000 for the whole system installed. These systems have an expected payback period of around 3-4 years when compared to a standard system.
